Fresh from the felting table, another wool and silk collage scarf, accented with viscose and silk fibers. Rich colors that seem ready for fall.
Fiber artist working in felt, silk and other fabrics. One of a kind millinery.

Experimenting with new silk fabrics. My friend, Sue, gifted me some gorgeous textured silk fabric which I dyed terra-cotta. Love the colors and texture in this scarf.
Using hand dyed silk fabrics as well as silk chiffon prints to add interest to this black wide brimmed hat. The hand felted wool and silk hood was then blocked on a vintage wooden hat block and trimmed with a leather band and dyed bamboo button. The Nuno felt scarf incorporates the same dyed silks and silk chiffons for a striking ensemble.
The beautiful Silk Satin Devore incorporated into this felt hat takes it to a higher level. The fabric is repurposed from a beautiful dress I found in a consignment store on a trip to Florida. Not too many silk dresses at consignment stores in western Montana. The trim was inspired by a felt jewelry class I am currently taking from Deb Koesters. Always more to learn.
Summer certainly gets to be a busy time. Here are a few photos of a coordinated red Nuno felt hat and scarf I just completed and will be taking to 4 Ravens Gallery tomorrow.
One more kitty on its way to 4 Ravens Gallery. One of my favorite shades of blue with lovely silk flowers scattered over the surface.
Shifting directions to complete some cat pillows to take into 4 Ravens Gallery in Missoula today. Two done and a third very nearly done. Enjoying adding some embroidery to the surface after felting.
Just finished dyeing some fine linen yarn and cotton scrim with Fiber Reactive Dye. Put the lighter colored skein in at the end of the process and it is actually a nice soft, melon. Will looking forward to adding these to a project in the not to distant future.
I found a cone of white linen yarn in my studio and thought it might be perfect for adding textural stitches to my felt. I have also been thinking about the bolt of cotton scrim hanging with the bolts of silk fabric in my studio. I’ve been dyeing quite a bit of linen fabric for sewing lately so decided it might be nice to try some mini batches of the linen and cotton. Will post results later this week.
Delivered a couple more hats to 4 Ravens Gallery this past week. Still playing around with adding Sumi Ink to the silk fabric before felting. The burgandy/brown hat is trimmed with black Dupioni Silk fabric. The grey hat has several different hand dyed silk fabrics on the surface, also embellished with Sumi Ink and trimmed with a black leather band and ceramic button.
